Spritz drink, the Venetian tradition
Spritz is much more than an aperitif! It's an endless variation
of tastes, each one produced by the barman's creativity or the local
place where it is served. Spritz is a colored and exciting
idea, appreciated everywhere in the Veneto region, so famous that also
the New York Times wrote about it this year.
Three ingredients are usually mixed together to obtain the cocktail:
white wine, water and an alcoholic drink chosen among Aperol, Cynar, Gin
and others adding also an orange or lemon slice and an olive. In
Venice, from around midday young and old gather together in bars
for this ritual of taste.
It is said that the well known cocktail first appeared during World War
One - Austrian soldiers used to add water (spritzen) to the local
wine - and has spread through even outside the north east of Italy,
becoming a loved aperitif served before lunch or dinner.
The Mover Restaurant's barman has his own secret recipe which he
has been refining during years spent working in many Venetian typical
bars or bacari.
So Let's move! The spritz check-in time is at Quid Hotel's floor zero,
and remember: after breakfast every moment is ok for having a SPRITZ.
